Buying an Engagement Ring in Lebanon From Abroad
You are based abroad, the proposal will happen at home, and the ring has to be ready when you land. This page explains how Lebanese buyers abroad buy an engagement ring in Lebanon: they choose a certified natural diamond from our Beirut stock, verify it from wherever they are, reserve it with a deposit and collect the finished ring on arrival. Browse our certified loose diamonds, see our engagement rings in Lebanon, or pair the two in the ring builder.
Who this is for
This page is for Lebanese living in France, the Gulf, North America, Australia or anywhere else, who plan to propose on a trip home, where the family is. It also suits anyone whose days in Lebanon are short and fixed: a summer holiday, a family wedding, the Christmas break.
The principle is simple. Everything that can be done from a distance is done before you fly: choosing the stone, checking its paperwork, reserving it and settling the design of the ring. Only one step needs you in Beirut: paying the balance and collecting the ring.
How it works, step by step
- Choose online. Every diamond in the collection is physical stock in Beirut, listed with its laboratory, its grades and its price. Filter by shape, carat and budget, or tell us on WhatsApp what you have in mind.
- Receive the 360° video and certificate on WhatsApp. We send the stone’s pre-recorded 360° video and its GIA or HRD certificate, so you can watch how it handles light and read its grades at your own pace, in your own time zone.
- Verify the report yourself. Enter the report number on the laboratory’s own website and check that the carat weight, measurements and grades match the listing. Our guide to verifying a GIA or HRD certificate online shows exactly where to look.
- Reserve with a deposit. A deposit, arranged with us on WhatsApp, takes the stone off the market in your name. Every reservation requires a deposit, and the balance is paid on collection.
- Your ring is made. Once the design, metal and size are confirmed, a ring made to order takes about a week to ten days. If time is short, the express option sets your diamond into a ready-made mounting in 24 to 48 hours, from a narrower choice of designs. Our guide to choosing a ring setting helps you decide on the design from afar.
- Land and collect, or have it delivered to family. Book an appointment, pay the balance and collect the ring in Beirut; the exact address is shared privately once you book. Or have it delivered, free and insured, to family at an address within Greater Beirut, so it is waiting when you arrive. We confirm the handover details with you on WhatsApp.
We are an online house: the appointment is only to pay and collect, not to browse. We do not ship abroad or anywhere outside Greater Beirut, so your ring is never handed to an international courier. The whole process is set out on how it works, and delivery in Greater Beirut explains the delivery area.
Proposing in Lebanon this summer: your timeline from abroad
Summer, and July and August above all, is when much of the diaspora flies home and when many proposals and engagement gatherings take place. Your weeks at home will be short and full, so do everything you can before you board, and start earlier than the minimum.
- Six to eight weeks before you land: choose. Browse the stones online and send us your shortlist. We send each stone’s pre-recorded 360° video and its GIA or HRD report on WhatsApp, and you check the report number on the laboratory’s own website.
- About four weeks before you land: reserve. Reserve the diamond with a deposit, then confirm the setting, metal and ring size with us on WhatsApp. Our ring size guide helps you get the size right from afar.
- While you are still abroad: the ring is made. A made-to-order ring takes about a week to ten days once every detail is confirmed, so it is finished and waiting before your flight.
- Your first days home: collect. Book your appointment in Beirut, Monday to Saturday, pay the balance and collect the ring early in your stay, well before any family gathering. Or have it delivered, free and insured, to family within Greater Beirut.
- Keep it safe on the way. If the ring travels with you, or you are proposing on a trip, our guide to travelling with an engagement ring covers hand luggage, paperwork, customs and insurance in transit.
Running later than this? Reserving two to three weeks before you land still works for a ring made to order, and the express option sets your diamond into a ready-made mounting in 24 to 48 hours. For the moment itself, our guide on where to propose in Lebanon lists summer favourites, from Raouché at sunset to Batroun and Tyre beach.
Verify the diamond from where you are
The worry most buyers abroad share is choosing a diamond they cannot hold. A certified loose stone answers it better than any photograph, because it is a documented object. Its GIA or HRD report records the carat weight, measurements, colour and clarity grades, and the report number ties that paper to the laboratory’s own records.
So you do not need to take our word for anything. Check the number yourself, watch the 360° video, and ask us anything on WhatsApp in English, French or Arabic. When you collect, you see the stone in person against the same report. For the detail behind each laboratory, read HRD vs GIA certificates, and for the wider case, why buy your diamond in Lebanon.
Finding her ring size from abroad
Size is where most plans made from abroad stall, because you cannot slip a ring gauge onto her finger from another country. There are quiet ways round it.
- Borrow a ring she already wears on her ring finger, or have someone borrow it for you, and measure its inner diameter in millimetres. That one number is enough.
- Recruit an accomplice. A sister, her mother or a close friend can measure discreetly and keep the secret.
- Ask before you choose a design if you are unsure of the size. Some designs, such as pavé or eternity bands, are harder to adjust later than a plain band, and we will tell you which before you commit.
Our ring size guide has the string method and a conversion table in millimetres, US and EU sizes. If family in Greater Beirut can help, ask us on WhatsApp about sending them a ring sizer with an insured delivery. Because a made-to-order setting cannot be refunded once crafted, the size is confirmed with you before anything goes to the bench.
Timing your order around the flight
Work backwards from the day you land. A ring made to order takes about a week to ten days once everything is confirmed, so reserving the diamond and setting two to three weeks before your flight leaves a margin for questions, sizing and the unexpected; in summer and over Christmas, give yourself more.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Three to four weeks before you fly | Shortlist stones, receive their videos and certificates on WhatsApp, and verify the report numbers. |
| Two to three weeks before you fly | Reserve with a deposit and confirm the setting, metal and ring size. The ring goes to the bench. |
| The week you land | Book your appointment, pay the balance and collect in Beirut, or have the ring delivered insured to family within Greater Beirut. |
| Only a few days left | Ask about the express option: your diamond set into a ready-made mounting in 24 to 48 hours. |
Summer and the Christmas holidays are when much of the diaspora flies home and when proposals cluster, so start the conversation early if you are landing in either season. For a holiday proposal, our Christmas and New Year ring timeline goes week by week.

Common questions about buying from abroad
Can I buy a diamond in Lebanon while living abroad?
Yes. diamonds.com.lb serves buyers abroad: you choose a natural GIA- or HRD-certified diamond online, receive its 360° video and certificate on WhatsApp, verify the report number on the laboratory’s website and reserve it with a deposit. You pay the balance and collect by appointment in Beirut when you land.
When should I order a ring for a summer proposal in Lebanon?
Choose about six to eight weeks before you land, then reserve with a deposit about four weeks before and confirm the setting and size. The ring is made to order in about a week to ten days while you are away, and you collect it by appointment in Beirut in the first days of your stay.
Do you ship diamonds or rings abroad?
No. diamonds.com.lb delivers only within Greater Beirut, free and insured, and does not ship elsewhere in Lebanon or abroad. Buyers living abroad collect in person in Beirut by appointment, or have the ring delivered to family at an address within Greater Beirut.
How early should I order before my flight?
A ring made to order takes about a week to ten days, so reserving the diamond and setting two to three weeks before you land leaves a margin, and four weeks is more comfortable in summer. The express option, your diamond set into a ready-made mounting in 24 to 48 hours, is a fallback when time runs short rather than a plan.
How can I trust a diamond I have not seen in person?
Every diamond comes with a GIA or HRD report whose number you can check on the laboratory’s own website, and a 360° video we send on WhatsApp. Confirm that the weight, measurements and grades match the listing, and you will see the stone in person against the same report when you collect it.
How does reserving work from abroad?
You reserve with a deposit, arranged with us on WhatsApp, which takes the stone off the market in your name while the ring is made. Every reservation requires a deposit, and the balance is paid on collection. We confirm the details that apply to your order with you directly.
Can I return the diamond or the ring?
A loose diamond can be returned within 7 days of delivery if it is unset, unworn and undamaged, with its certificate and packaging. A made-to-order ring setting cannot be refunded once crafted, so every detail of design, metal and size is confirmed with you first. The returns policy has the full terms.
