Pear Shaped Diamonds and Engagement Rings in Lebanon
The pear shaped diamond is a teardrop that marries the brilliance of a round cut with the gentle taper of a single point, and it remains one of the most graceful choices for an engagement ring in Lebanon. We hold certified natural pear diamonds in our Beirut stock and make pear engagement rings to order around them.

Why the pear shape feels so elegant
A well cut pear carries the fire of a round brilliant through its rounded end, then narrows to a defined point that draws the eye and lengthens the line of the finger. Worn with the point toward the fingertip, it flatters the hand and gives the ring a soft, romantic presence that few other shapes achieve.
It is a distinctive choice without being loud. The shape reads as classic and considered, which is exactly why so many couples in Beirut return to it once they have seen one on the hand.
How to choose a pear with confidence
Symmetry is everything with this cut. The two shoulders should mirror each other, the point should sit in line with the rounded end, and the belly should look balanced rather than stubby or pinched. Watch for the bow-tie, a darker shadow that can fall across the centre of an elongated stone. A skilfully cut pear keeps that shadow faint and scatters light evenly from end to point. Our 360° videos show the actual stone, so you can judge both before you contact us.
The length-to-width ratio is a matter of taste. A ratio of about 1.45 to 1.75 gives the classic teardrop; shorter looks fuller and rounder, longer looks slimmer and more dramatic. We are glad to talk you through the trade-offs.
Settings made to suit the stone
The point of a pear is its most vulnerable spot, so we favour a protective V-prong or a delicate bezel at the tip. A pear sits beautifully as a solitaire, framed by a halo, or flanked by tapered side stones that echo its line. Certification you can check yourself
Every diamond we offer is a natural stone with an independent GIA or HRD certificate. You can read the grading report and verify the certificate number on the laboratory’s own website before you commit to anything. In the Beirut diamond trade we have learned that trust is built on documents you can check yourself, not on promises.

Common questions about pear shaped diamonds
How big is a 1 carat pear shaped diamond?
A well-cut 1 carat pear typically measures about 8.5 x 5.5 mm, depending on its ratio, against about 6.5 mm across for a round of the same weight. Its length makes it look noticeably larger on the finger. The report gives the exact length and width, so compare the millimetres of each stone rather than the carat figure alone.
Is a pear shaped diamond fragile?
Diamond is the hardest natural material, but the point of a pear is its thinnest part and can chip from a hard knock. Three checks lower the risk: a girdle not described as extremely thin on the report, no feather near the tip on the clarity plot, and a V-shaped prong wrapping the point. Every setting detail is confirmed before the ring is made.
Is a pear diamond cheaper than a round?
Usually, when you compare the price per carat. More of the rough crystal survives when a pear is cut, and rounds carry the strongest demand, so a pear of the same weight and grades typically costs less and also faces up larger. The pears in our Beirut stock appear with their real prices in the grid above, and our diamond prices page compares shapes.
Does a pear diamond suit short fingers?
Often very well. Worn point toward the fingertip, a pear draws the eye along the finger and makes it look longer and slimmer. A slimmer ratio strengthens that effect, while a fuller pear looks softer and rounder; the choice is a matter of taste, not quality. The 360° video, sent on WhatsApp, helps you judge the outline before you choose.
Does colour show more in a pear diamond?
A little, at the point. The narrow tip gathers light, so a faint body colour shows there first, where the same grade would look whiter in a round. In yellow or rose gold this hardly matters. For white gold or platinum many buyers choose a grade or so whiter, while clarity can stay more relaxed, since brilliant faceting hides small inclusions well.
